OVERVIEW

September has been an exciting month for the Crossroad Volunteer Internship Program (CVIP) family. Rotation Class α and Rotation Class β members welcomed 5 new members into the program, forming Rotation Class γ. These new members were selected from a competitive group of 31 applicants. The returning interns are thrilled to work with these well qualified individuals. Rotation Class β members have begun to learn the leadership roles of Rotation Class α members as Rotation Class α members begin their third and final rotation in the program. The Tobacco Treatment Group is off and running. All interns are very pleased with the progress that has been made since the first meeting of the Tobacco Treatment Group. Many interns have had to opportunity to lead the group meetings. The interns have had fantastic one on one experiences with patients dealing with their tobacco addictions. Interns are pleased with the opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and quality of patients’ visits at Crossroad Health Center by manning the Pre-Visit Planning Room and the organization of patient rooms.

REFLECTIONS

“I like that Brook gives me a list of things to complete and they are tasks that I can complete in one shift. It gives me a sense of accomplishment, that I am making Brook’s job easier by doing the tedious tasks, while she gets to help patients. I think that every system works best when everyone contributes to the flow and I am glad I get to contribute to the flow of Crossroad.”
–Vivian

I am happy that I am expanding my skill sets and acquiring new knowledge of the workings of the clinic and certain procedures.”
