As part of the Volunteer Internship Program at Crossroad Health Center, I have had the
opportunity to expand my involvement in the Cincinnati community. So far, I have been able to
experience the importance of the work done by Crossroad employees through the service of
the underserved communities in Cincinnati. One thing that has really stood out to me is the lack
of access to healthcare because of barriers such as money, transportation, or the internet. Because
of this, the assistance that Crossroad and the Volunteer Internship Program provide is crucial
and I am happy to be a part of serving those in need. As I continue to work towards my goal of
being a physician, I have learned a lot so far from Crossroad that I will take with me and address
when I have a larger impact in my future place of work. Some of the things I have learned is
being able to address the need of providing adequate healthcare to all people and building
upon a stronger patient and doctor relationship. While I have not had the opportunity to work
in the office yet, I know every patient that is supported by Crossroad is treated with the same care
and respect. Every member of Crossroad and the Volunteer Internship Program is involved
because we want to assist others’ needs that we are fortunate enough to have. I have been
inspired to be a part of Crossroad and their mission of providing accessible healthcare by family
friends who do similar work in my hometown. From my experiences of shadowing at their
practice these last couple of years, I have seen the similarities in their goal of assisting all people.
Crossroad Health Center has actively been a part of solving the inadequate health care issue in
the Cincinnati communities and the Volunteer Internship Program has given me the chance to
contribute my abilities to make an impact.
